Hi Everyone,
My husband colleague was having a baby girl and requested that I make a card for his wife to celebrate. He requested that it be mostly flat so he could frame it and that it have a space for the baby’s foot prints. The stamp set that instantly came to mind was Mama Elephant’s Wish Upon a Star stamp set – it’s just so sweet.
Images
I stamped two of the darling images from Wish Upon a Star onto Strathmore’s Bristol Smooth cardstock using Lawn Fawn’s Narwhal ink and heat set them with Hero Arts’ Ultra Fine Clear Embossing Powder. Next, I watercolored the images with a combination of Zig and Arteza makers. To add a bit of sparkle I used a wash of Gansai Tambi’s Starry Colors White Gold watercolor over the moon and cloud.
Sky Background
To create the sweet pink sky, I first ink blended Victorian Velvet, Spun Sugar, Milled Lavender, Dried Marigold, Tattered Rose, and Tumbled Glass Distress Oxide inks onto Strathmore’s Bristol Smooth cardstock. Next, I went a bit crazy with splatter and used a combination of several shades of Gansai Tambi’s Starry Colors watercolors along with Nuvo’s Turkish Rose and Pink Carnation Mica Mists. The amount of glowy shine this gives the sky is stunning!
For the clouds I wanted them to have a lot of dimension and shine so I die cut Lawn Fawn’s Pixie Dust cardstock, Lawn Fawn’s Pearlescent Vellum, and white cardstock using Lawn Fawn’s Puffy Cloud Borders dies. I’m in love with how this turned out!
Sentiment and Finishing Touches
For the sentiment, I combined two from Lawn Fawn’s Swan Soirée stamp set and stamped them using Victorian Velvet Distress Oxide and Lawn Fawn’s Narwhal inks.
To add just a bit more sparkle, I scattered around the card Studio Katia’s Cupid’s Kiss Crystals.
Companion Piece
In addition to the card, I created a companion piece that could be used to stamp the baby’s foot prints as well as a little note from the parent. I created this with the same supplies as the card so they would tie together. I adore how sweet this looks.
Thanks for stopping by and spending a little time with me today! Stay health and Safe!
