Hi Crafty Friends,
So, I have a confession to make, every summer I say to myself ‘you don’t need any more summer themed stamp set. You already have so many cute ones. This year you will NOT buy any more!’ And guess what? Every year the stamp companies outdo themselves and I simply have to buy at least 1 or 2 (or 200) more stamp sets. HA!
This year Mama Elephant’s Summer Splash stamp set stole my heart and I just had to have it. I absolutely love their stamps!
Card Design
This card design was inspired by a spectacular card by Marine of Blue Marine who makes stunning cards! She also has a great YouTube channel. I fell completely in love with her card and wanted to create a card by stacking oval die cut windows on top of each other too. Personally, I’m completely in love and I’m half tempted to never do another layout again – though I guess that would get boring for you and me.
Images
I wanted this card to focus on the cute sandcastle in the stamp set along with the adorable elephants making it. I also used the super sweet lady elephant on the inside of the card (more on that below). I stamped the images from Mama Elephant’s Summer Splash stamp set and the sun image from Mama Elephant’s Sun and Moon stamp set onto Neenah Solar White, 110 lb, cardstock using Ink on 3’s Blackout Detail Ink. Wanting to keep the color scheme simple I stuck to a pink, yellow, and orange color pallet for all the accessories. All the images, including the sandy hills, were colored using Copic markers.
Dies
To create the oval windows I used Hero Arts’ Nesting Oval Infinity Dies to cut out five windows from white and yellow cardstock from my stash. To create the sandy hills and clouds I used the hill insert and cloud die from Mama Elephant’s 3D Pop Up Card Creative Cuts die set.
Sentiment
For the sentiment (which sadly is a bit blurry in this photo) I used Mama Elephant’s Big News stamp set.
Card Inside
On the inside of the card, I stamped a sentiment from Mama Elephant’s Picnic with Friends stamp set and placed the super cute lady elephant from Mama Elephant’s Summer Splash stamp set above it.
Finishing Touches
To add a bit more punch to the card I added a thin layer of Glossy Accents to the shovel, water bucket, and sunglass lens. I also added white polka dots to lady elephants bathing suit and head scarf with a white Sakura Gelly Roll pen.
I hope you enjoyed this fun-in-the-sun card!
